Day 1
On arriving in Lisbon you’ll be transferred to the Hotel Vincci Baixa to freshen up. The hotel is in the city’s Baixa neighborhood, a bohemian district where the streets are lined with neoclassical buildings. In the afternoon you’ll have a guided tour of the city, and you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant in the evening.

Day 2
Today you’ll head to the medieval city of Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city. You’ll stop for a hearty lunch at Adega e Presuntaria Transmontana, a rustic restaurant that resembles a stone tasca (tavern), followed by a visit to a Porto winery for a tasting. In the afternoon you’ll continue on to the charming city of Guimaraes for a short guided tour, and visit Braga, a former Roman settlement, and Bom Jesus, a hilltop pilgrimage site on the edge of the city.

Day 3
After breakfast you’ll join a four-hour tour of Quinta do Seixo, a modern winery on the south bank of the Douro River. Covering 108 acres, the winery offers stunning views of the valley from stepped terraces. You’ll taste some of the specialty wines and enjoy a picnic lunch in the vineyard. In the afternoon you’ll return to the hotel and enjoy some free time in the evening to eat dinner at your leisure. We can arrange an optional cruise on the Douro River for those interested.

Day 4
In the morning you’ll drive south to Marvão, a fortified medieval village perched on a peak of the Serra de São Marmede mountain range. On the way you’ll stop in the Dão area for a wine tasting and eat lunch along the way. After checking into your hotel you’ll have free time to explore Marvão’s narrow streets, covered alleys and 13th-century castle. Dinner will be at a local restaurant.

Day 5
After breakfast you’ll visit the charming village of Castelo de Vide and make the most of Marvão on a guided walking tour. You’ll then head to Portagem for lunch by the river and join a wine tasting in the afternoon. Dinner will be at a local restaurant.

Day 6
Today you’ll depart for Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s partially enclosed by medieval walls. You’ll visit the Herdade do Esporao winery for the last tasting of the trip and join an afternoon walking tour of the city to see its perfectly preserved Roman temple, unusual cathedral and the macabre Chapel of Bones. You’ll indulge in a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7
After breakfast you’ll bid farewell to Portugal as you transfer to the Lisbon airport for your flight home.
